2 midcap mutual funds turn Rs 5,000 monthly SIP to Rs 1 crore in 20 years

Two midcap mutual funds turned Rs 5,000 monthly SIP investments to Rs 1 crore in the last 20 years, an analysis of performance by the category showed. There were around seven mid cap schemes that have completed 20 years of existence.

Sundaram Mid Cap Fund and Nippon India Growth Fund turned the monthly SIP investments of Rs 5,000 to Rs 1.02 crore each in the last 20 years. The schemes gave an XIRR of 18.52% each in the said period.

Sundaram Mid Cap Fund manages assets of Rs 10,732 crore as on April 2024. The scheme is managed by S. Bharath and it is benchmarked against Nifty Midcap 150 – TRI.

ETMutualFunds also analysed how the other mid cap schemes turned monthly SIP of Rs 5,000. The other mid cap schemes managed to turn Rs 5,000 monthly SIP between Rs 72.23 lakh – Rs 97.60lakh. Tata Mid Cap Growth Fund turned Rs 5,000 monthly SIP of Rs 97.60 lakh and delivered an XIRR of 8.13% in the last 20 years.

Aditya Birla SL Midcap Fund and Quant Midcap Fund turned monthly SIP of Rs 5,000 to Rs 79.43 lakh and Rs 78.59 lakh respectively. These schemes gave an XIRR of 6.48% and 16.39% respectively in the said period.

Taurus Mid Cap Fund turned monthly SIP investments of Rs 5,000 to Rs 72.23 lakh. The scheme gave an XIRR of 15.71% in the last 20 years.

We considered all mid cap funds that have completed 20 years in the market, including both regular and growth options.

Mid cap schemes are usually recommended to aggressive investors who have a very high-risk tolerance and longer investment horizon of, say, seven to 10 years. A longer investment horizon helps investors to navigate the volatility better.
